Description: A superb George III Sheraton period demi-lune satinwood console and games table. This lovely piece has the proportions of a classic Sheraton console table standing at a height of 31 inches, yet the top opens to reveal a red baize lined playing surface and is supported by gate action rear legs. The top of the finest West Indian satinwood with a double banding to the curved edge with inset floral chain on kingwood and tulipwood strung with box. On the straight side the tulipwood banding continues with an intricate central marquetry fan. The frieze, banded to top and bottom with tulipwood with an inset fan pattarae to the top of each leg. The legs of solid satinwood, tapering, fluted and with ebony inlaid to the fluting with a ring turned angle and plain turned foot.

The quality of construction and detailing on this table is superb, with original fabulous colour and figuring, this is an ideal console table for a hall which can also be used if desired as a games table or a larger number of players.

Condition: Excellent. Possible minor old restorations, waxing. The baize playing surface is a replacement.
