Description: A fine William & Mary burred walnut escritoire of fine original colour and patina. The segmented moulded cornice, over a cushion moulded. Below the quarter veneered with burred panels and feather banding to the edge, opening to reveal and extensive arrangement of inlaid drawers and pigeon holes with a central cupboard section with further drawers within. The interior of the fall with felt lined rising writing slope A prominent waist moulding separates the two parts of the piece with an arrangement of two short over two long feather banded, oak lined drawers, with drop handles and original engraved lock escutcheons. The piece even retains its original exquisite hand carved steel key and represents a unique opportunity to acquire a piece which has probably the finest colour of any period walnut we have seen.
Condition: Excellent. Minor repairs to lose veneers and mouldings, cleaning and waxing. The bun feet and drop handles are old replacements. Escutcheons and internal brassware original, original pierce work key.
