George II oval walnut foot stool

Description: A fine George III walnut oval stool, retaining excellent original colour and patina.. The curved seat rail with moulded upper edge, supported on four moulded and shaped cabriole legs, with C-scroll edging to the upper leg, fluting and terminating in a semi-trefid foot.

Further Information: A rare stool with this oval shape. Stools of this period came in a variety of shapes and sizes yet this piece stands out because of it’s rare use of the oval outline. The legs moulded in an unusal and interesting manor.

Condition: Excellent. Good orginal colour and condition, with possible minor old restorations. The drop in seat has been re-covered in a green silk damask.

Origin/Age: English, George II, circa 1735

Provenance: Private collection Ireland, sold by Avon Antiques, Bradford on Avon. Believed to have been exhibited at the Grosvenor House Fair in 2007.
