Description: A beautifully drawn, fabulous quality Regency mahogany hall settee in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster. The piece basically comprises of two pieces of extremely well figured mahogany, the back and the seat. The back of rectangular section, with scalloped top edge corners, with a central applied central gadrooned finial and bordered by the rear uprights also with gadrooned detailing to the top. The shaped arms supported by tapering turned, ring columns. The rectangular seat section again of beautifully figured mahogany, with rounded front corners and supported to the front by turned tapering fluted legs, and to the rear by square section curved profile legs.
Further Information: Gillows of Lancaster are one of the most celebrated of all English furniture makers. They were established in the early 18th century, and pieces made by Gillows are very desirable and extremely sought after.
Condition: Excellent. Minor old restorations, waxing.
