Regency kingwood, ebony & brass mounted card table

Description: A fine Regency kingwood, ebony & brass mounted card table. The rectangular top with front chamfered corners, a broad ebony band, inlaid with brass stars and ellipses, with a further cross-banding of tulipwood. The top swings through ninety degrees and opens to reveal a baize lined playing surface cross-banded in satinwood. The frieze to the front and sides inlaid with brass ellipses and a central star motif. Each chamfered corner with and ebony panel inlaid with a brass star. The table is supported by c-scroll shaped brass columns with a central giltwood ball, over a centralised base with four out swept brass inlaid legs with hairy paw feet. With numerous expensively wrought features, obviously an important piece probably made by a top London cabinet maker. Fabulous!

Condition: Excellent. Minor restorations, waxing. The baize playing surface is a later replacement.
