Description: A rare George III mahogany stool in the manner of Marsh and Tatham. The solid mahogany top, shaped in the form of a gentle convex curve, with rounded ends and applied turned roundels. The turned waisted and tapering legs, with a ring turned ankle with an inverted vase shape foot. A superb piece of wonderful delicate form, great original colour and patina.

Further Information: William Marsh (active 1775-1810) and Thomas Tatham (1763-1818) were partners in a very successful firm of cabinetmakers and upholsterers based in Mount Street. They carried out major commissions for the Prince of Wales at Brighton Pavilion and at Carlton House. They were noted for their design of hall bench which stylistically mirrors this stool, supplied to exclusive clients in the late 18th century.

Condition: Excellent. Minor restorations, waxing.
