George III mahogany linen press

Description: A good early George III mahogany linen press. The cornice with applied Greek key moulding over a blind fret-work frieze. Below a pair of panelled doors with broken rectangular moulding and gilt brass lock escutcheons, on rule joint hinges, opening to a perfect 90 degree point so the three internal linen trays slide out on runners affixed to the doors. An unusual yet practical design, allowing the internal trays can be fully accessed without removal. The bottom half comprises of three graduated, quadrant beaded, oak lined drawers with brass swan neck handles, supported on elegant ogee bracket feet. A practical nicely proportioned piece of good rich colour.

Condition: Excellent. Minor restorations, cleaning & waxing.
