Description: A superb George III chippendale peiod mahogany writing desk of excellent colour and patina. The top with inset leather writing surface and moulded edge, below a frieze with three drawers and opposing dummy drawers and a further opposing dummy drawer to each end. The desk is supported by moulded chamfered legs with intricately carved ears to each hip.
Further Information: The form, layout and design of this desk conforms with many designs illustrated in Thomas Chippendale's - "The Gentleman's and Cabinet Maker's Director", in particular the delicate and intricately carved ears at the top of each leg are particular Chippendale designs.
Condition: Excellent. Minor restorations, waxing. The leather writing surface has been replaced.
