Description: A fine George III carved giltwood mirror, exquisitely detailed and of appealing proportions. The scroll carved and shuttered pierced frame bordering the silvered mirror plate, with architectural elements of design, the pierced sides hung with intertwined flora, acanthus leaves and foliage. The mirror is surmounted by a pierced double c-scroll crest centred by an carved cartouche, surrounded with leaf carving and topped with a flamboyant leaf spray. The apron with similar pierced leaf scroll work, with a central leaf carved cartouche.
This mirror has excellent detailing and superb crisp carving throughout, the gilt finish has nicely aged to present a superb centrepiece mirror for any room or hallway.
Condition: Excellent. The mirror plate possibly re-silvered, the gilding partially re-freshed.
