George II carved mahogany library armchair

Stock Code: 2102 - SOLD

Description: A finely carved George II mahogany library armchair, retaining excellent original colour and patina. The well figured back with a scalloped head rail, linked to the bottom rail by a central vertical vase shaped splat with scrolling flower and leaf carved edges.

The serpentine shaped out-swept arms with carved scrolling hand rests with a central flower to the scroll and leaf carving to the arm lower support.

The drop in upholstered seat is covered in a contemporary Eighteenth century floral needlework and supported on cabriole legs with carved acanthus foliage to the knees and terminating in ball and claw feet.

An excellent example, in fine condition throughout.

Condition: Excellent. Possible minor old restorations, waxing. The upholstery most certainly replaced, however the needlework cover appears to be 18th century and of a contemporary age to the chair.
