Stock Code: 1948 - SOLD
Description: A very good George I figured walnut & feather banded lowboy. The rectangular top with quartered veneers, bordered by a half feather & cross banding, with an end grain moulded edge to three sides. The frieze with a single central drawer bordered by a pair of half feathered drawers, oak lined and double beaded. The drawers are fitted with shaped, engraved brass plate handles, with a shaped apron below. The sides in book matched veneer cross banded to front and rear. The lowboy is supported by beautifully shaped cabriole legs terminating in pad feet.
Further Information: The use of a half feather, rather than a herringbone, the termination of the molding and feather banding to the top of the drawers (which is not seen when viewed normally) is a feature normally associated with a country made piece. This fine lowboy does have particularly good proportions and also retains very good colour and patina.
Condition: Excellent. Cleaning, waxing. Minor restorations to various chipped veneers, brassware replaced.
