George II figured walnut concertina action card table

Description: A superb George II figured walnut concertina action card table of excellent original colour and patina. The highly figured top with inset feather banded border to the rectangular form top, having outset circular out-set sections to the front. The top opens to reveal a suede lined playing surface, with four candle plates and counter wells. The frieze again of fine figured walnut veneers, the front cabriole shaped legs with shell carved knees with trailing flowers, rosettes to the ears and terminating on ball and claw feet.

The rear legs of plainer cabriole form with pad feet, joined by a veneered back rail, which pulls out to form a table with a leg on each corner when opened, a slide underneath the top pulls back to lock the legs in position. A superb quality and practical piece of furniture in excellent condition.

Condition: Excellent. Minor restorations, cleaning and waxing. The suede playing surface is a later replacement.
