Description: A George III Sheraton period satinwood & gonzalez alves card table. The top of D-shaped form with an out-stepped front edge, and veneered in the finest West Indian satinwood, with the perimeter and edge cross banded in gonzalez alves and strung with box. The top opens to reveal a tooled baize lined playing surface, cross-banded with gonzalez alves. Below the frieze with inset ebony and box stringing and a lower edge cross banded in gonzalez alves and strung with box, with the leg hips further out set with inlaid burr yew panels. The table is unusually supported by ring turned, tapering solid satinwood legs. This is a fabulous, most probably London made piece, of wonderful quality. Of note is the exquisite use of choice veneers throughout.

Condition: Excellent. Possible minor old restorations, waxing. The baize lining probably replaced some 40 years ago.
