Description: A fine George III Sheraton period mahogany & burr yew serpentine card table of wonderful faded colour and excellent patina. The top of serpentine form to the front and sides, with an central oval burr yew panel strung with ebony and box, surrounded by quartered flame mahogany veneers again strung with ebony & box. The whole top is strung and cross-banded in tulipwood, with a moulded edge around the circumference.
The frieze, of serpentine form to the front and straight to the side, veneered in well figured flame mahogany with central drawer fitted with a brass ring handle and with a moulded bottom edge. One rear leg swings out to support the top when open. All legs of a square moulded form, tapering towards the toe. A handsome piece in excellent original condition.
Condition: Excellent. Possible minor old restorations, waxing. The baize lining has been replaced within the last 25 years.
