Description: A fine pair of George I burr walnut side chairs. The elegantly arched backs, the curved top rail formed by two confronted tight end scrolls, a vase shaped central splat, veneered with a tightly grained burr walnut, gently flowing down to the burr veneered keyhole shaped seat rail with a drop in seat covered with a 19th century needlework. The chair is supported by wonderfully shaped front cabriole legs with shell carved knees and a trefid foot, flowing out-stepped rear cabriole legs with a pointed toe foot. A wonderfully elegant pair of chairs, in superb condition.
Condition: Excellent. Possible minor old restoration. The drop in seats are covered in a later 19th century needlework.
