Description: A fine George II burr walnut compact chest of excellent colour and patina. The top of rectangular form, quarter veneered, cross and feather banded, with cross grain moulded edge. To the front of the chest four long graduated, oak lined, cock-beaded drawers fitted with gilt brass plate handles. Beneath the bottom drawer a further cross-grain moulding around the perimeter, the chest being supported on elegantly shaped bracket feet.
Further Information: Small walnut chests such as this, are highly sought after. This chest has a particularly good patina and ‘skin’ which is commensurate with a well used yet cared for life.
Condition: Excellent. Minor restorations, waxing. Feet apparently original, brassware probably an old replacement.
