Description: A fine and extremely rare George III mahogany serpentine dressing kneehole chest of very well figured veneers, with excellent colour and patina. The serpentine top with moulded edge, over a central long fitted drawer, which when opened reveals a retractable internal baize lined brushing slide, with an arrangement of compartments and a ratchet supported writing slope which turns over to reveal a bevelled mirror on the reverse.

Below a central kneehole with three further graduated drawers to either side. Each drawer is oak lined and cock beaded with apparently the original ring handles. The kneehole chest has a lower bottom moulding, and stands on four shaped canted bracket feet.

Further Information: A piece of superior construction quality throughout, with subtle use of beautifully figured veneers and in a very rare form.

Condition: Excellent. Restorations to interior of top drawer, waxing. Brassware and feet believed to be original.
