Description: A superb George III mahogany serpentine dressing commode of compact dimensions and of excellent original colour and patina. The top of elegant serpentine shape, with tulipwood banded and box strung periphery and moulded edge. The fronted canted corners and carved cluster column separating four long graduated, tulipwood banded, cock-beaded, oak lined drawers fitted with brass ring handles.
The top drawer with baized lined dressing surface which retracts to reveal a fully fitted interior, with ratchet supported rising mirror and an arrangement of open and lidded compartments. The base again with shaped moulded edge, the chest is supported by shaped bracket feet. A wonderfully neat, practical and physically compact commode.
Condition: Excfellent. Minor old restorations, waxing The handles are replacements.
