Description: A fine and unusual George III mahogany bowfront chest on legs, retaining excellent original colour and patina. The bow fronted, squared sided top of figured mahogany with a box strung outline. Below two short over two long finely figured mahogany, graduated, oak lined drawers fitted with semi-loop, gilt brass beaded handles and back plates, each drawer again box strung. To the side the chest is fitted with brass carry handles and stands on tapering square section legs terminating in spade feet. An unusual design, which stands well when placed in a room setting, of particularly good quality and with desirable rarity, a fine piece.
Condition: Excellent. Possible minor old restorations, drawer brassware believed to be original.
