Description: A superb, rare George III finely figured, mahogany serpentine dressing commode, retaining excellent original colour and patina. The top with deep serpentine front and out-swept sides, with moulded edge. Below an arrangement of four long graduated, mahogany lined drawers fitted with original Chippendale rococo handles, the top drawer fully fitted with writing slide, mirror and an arrangement of compartments and boxes. The commode has canted corners surmounted by an acanthus scroll with emanating carved trailing flowers and foliage with an acanthus spray to the base. The chest is supported on unusually shaped, curved bracket feet. The figuring and colour on this piece are second to none, a rare opportunity to acquire a fantastic piece of furniture.

Further Information: This piece is obviously made by a very important maker, the quality and attention to detail is outstanding throughout, the handles are certainly a know Chippendale design, mahogany lined drawers are indicative of the very best quality, the timbers used throughout are superlative. This piece could possibly have been made in Chippendale's own workshop.

Condition: Excellent. The commode has been waxed, minor old restorations. Brassware & feet believed to be original.
