Description: A superb English Queen Anne burr walnut & feather banded bureau bookcase. The top with broken arch pediment, with applied cross grained moulding to the circumference, feather banded inset burr walnut panels, surmounted by three giltwood finials. An arrangement of drawers, central cupboard, pigeon holes and shelves is enclosed by a pair of arch top doors, with beveled star engraved mirror plates. The lower half in two sections, split by a dividing cross grained waist moulding, with double feather banded fall opening to reveal a further arrangement of drawers, pigeon holes and several secret compartments, with a red cloth lined writing surface. Below a burr walnut frieze bordered by a pair of retractable lopers, below two short over two long, graduated burr walnut oak lined drawers, fitted with engraved brass plate handles.

The bookcase is supported on bun feet and has fitted brass lifting handles, to top and bottom sections. A truly wonderful piece, exuding quality throughout in its construction, features and choice of veneers; the piece retains excellent colour and patina.

Condition: Excellent. Minor restorations to chipped veneers, waxing. Some external brassware replaced, bun feet later.
