Description: A restrained, practical and historically important George III mahogany architects table, made for renowned 18th century architect John Carr.
The rectangular mahogany top with banded circumference edge over a drawer with raisable drawing board, with ink and pen well to the right, believed to be containing the original ink bottles. The cock beaded, oak lined, drawer is fitted with brass axe-head shaped drop handles and with a brass lock escutcheon.
The table has a simple mahogany frieze with applied moulding to the lower edge and stands on square section tapering legs. The table retains excellent colour and patina and has the remnants of a now undecipherable makers label to the underside.
