Description: A fabulous George I walnut chequer strung & cross banded kneehole desk, in excellent near original condition. The rectangular top with front re-entrant corners, quarter veneered, chequer strung, cross banded and with a moulded edge. Below one long over two pairs of three short chequer strung & cross banded, cock-beaded, oak lined drawers, fitted with original engraved backplate handles. A central apron drawer with secret release latch over a central kneehole compartment, opening to reveal a cupboard with central shelf. A further moulding below and two pairs of original walnut veneered bracket feet to the front, together with an absolutely dreamy original colour, completes the description of what can only be described as one of the best walnut kneeholes we have seen.
Condition: Excellent. Possible minor old restorations, waxing. Brassware & feet believed to be original.
