Description: An impressive study of a group of highland cattle on a rocky outcrop with a classic highland view of a loch and mist covered hills in the distance. A fine piece of painting by Liverpool artist William R Watson.

Further Information: William flourished in the mid to late 19th century and came from a family of painters originating in Liverpool. A pupil of iconic Sir Edwin Landseer and also French artist Rosa Bonheur, William's work was detailed yet also full of movement and excellent sense of the proportion and majesty of the animals he mainly portrayed. Exhibiting locally and also at the Royal Academy in 1972, his works can now be found in galleries and museums as far flung as Minneapolis in the USA. Highland Chiefs is an excellent example of this highly capable artist's work.

Condition: Excellent. The picture has been cleaned. Minor restorations to original frame.
