Description: A fine pair of Regency burr pollard oak card tables. The top of rectangular shape with rounded front corners, strung with A fine pair of George III mahogany serpentine top card tables. The well figured tops of serpentine outline to front and sides, constructed of well figured mahogany. They open to reveal a baize lined playing surface and are supported by a double gate leg action rear legs. The frieze again of well figured mahogany with an applied lower moulding. The tables are supported by flute moulded, straight legs, with original fretwork corner ears.

A fine pair of particularly good colour and patina throughout.

Condition: Excellent. The baize playing surface appears to have been replaced within the last 10-20 years. The tables have been waxed.

Laurance Spelman Rockefeller (May 26, 1910 - July 11, 2004) was an American philanthropist, businessman, financier, and major conservationist. He was a prominent third-generation member of the Rockefeller family, being the fourth child of John Davison Rockefeller, Jr. and Abigail Greene "Abby" Aldrich. He was a leading figure in the pioneering field of venture capital, which began as a joint partnership with all five brothers and their only sister, Babs, in 1946. In 1969 this became the successful Venrock Associates, which provided important early funding for Intel and Apple Computer, amongst many other start-up technology companies.
