A pair of George III mahogany bedside cupboards possibly by Thomas Chippendale

A lovely pair of cupboards with a strong resemblance to a pair at Dumfries House.

Description: A fine pair of George III mahogany bedside cupboards, possibly by Thomas Chippendale. The tops of rectangular format with a gallery up-stand, cut away towards the front and bordered by an applied moulding. The doors of well figured mahogany with an inset strung oval panel and fitted with Chippendale axe head handles. The legs of tapering square section form. The backs of each cupboard with the classic Chippendale “pink wash”.

Further Information: This pair of cupboards bears a very strong resemblance to a pair at Dumfries House in Scotland which were believed to have been made by Chippendale.

Condition: Excellent. Possible old minor restorations, waxing.
