A pair of George III figured mahogany & satinwood banded card tables

Description: A superb pair of George III figured mahogany & satinwood banded card tables. The extremely well figured tops, with a broad West Indian satinwood banding and further tulipwood cross-banding and boxwood stringing. Both rear legs swing out to support the opened top which has a green wool baize lined playing surface. Below, the frieze with inlaid satinwood and boxwood geometric stringing, outset hips with satinwood inlay and a central rectangular tablet. The table is supported by square section box strung, tapering legs terminating in spade feet. These tables are of particularly fine quality and have superb detailing throughout. They are most likely made by an important London cabinet maker.

Condition: Excellent. Minor restorations, waxing. The baize playing surface replaced within the past 20 years.
