Description: A superb pair of George III Chippendale period carved giltwood wall brackets. The top of scalloped demi-lune form, with a carved edge supported by carved floral C-scrolls, with a central ho-ho bird, with emanating flowers, leaves and further scrolls. Lovely brackets of a good size and fabulous quality retaining the majority of their original gilding. These brackets have a particularly elegant, flowing and well executed design, with lovely detailed carving throughout.
Further Information: The form of these brackets closely follows designs illustrated in Thomas Chippendale’s - “The Gentleman and Cabinet Maker’s Director.”
Condition: Excellent. Possible minor old restorations, the gilding largely original but refreshed in places.
