Description: An exquisite Chinese export reverse painted mirror plate in a beautifully carved George III Chippendale period frame. The mercury silver plate depicting a beautiful Chinese lady working on an embroidery panel which is placed on a table in very elegant surroundings. The English made frame, contemporary to the plate intricately and crisply carved, with pierced scrolls and foliage, with a broad upper crest and tightly formed and again crisply carved lower crest. The frame with Chinese Chippendale design elements.

Further Information: It was a known practice at the time for some top English mirror makers to import from China reverse painted mercury silvered plates and fit them to a sympathetic styled English made frame

Condition: Excellent. Plate apparently original. Minor repairs to frame, some gilding refreshed in places.
