A superb Chippendale period mahogany scroll arm settee

Description: A superb George III Chippendale period mahogany scroll arm settee of neat compact dimensions and excellent proportions. The upholstered back of serpentine shape, joining the tightly scrolled arms which themselves are of particularly good proportions and shape. The seat of tapering rectangular shape, with the front frieze neatly shaped adjacent to the top of each leg. The settee stands on front moulded legs with carved brackets to the hip of each front leg and at the rear the sofa two sabre shaped square section legs all joined by an H-section stretcher.

Further Information: The shape and form of this settee conforms closely to known examples made by the workshops of Thomas Chippendale. This particular piece is of a fabulous shape and size, retaining excellent original colour and patina to the mahogany and is of excellent quality throughout. An extremely attractive piece. Jeremy Ltd situated on the Kings Road in London was established just after the war and was and remains one of the most highly respected London dealers.

Condition: Excellent. Minor repairs, the frame re-upholstered and covered in a china blue classic damask silk fabric.
