Description: A fine George I burr walnut compact chest with brushing slide, of excellent colour and patina. The quarter veneered top cross and feather banded , of rectangular form with front re-entrant corners and with applied cross-grained moulded edge. To the front of the chest a retractable brushing slide with brass knob handles, over four long graduated, feather banded, oak lined, quadrant-beaded drawers fitted with gilt brass plate handles. Beneath the bottom drawer a further cross-grain moulding around the perimeter, the chest being supported on shaped bracket feet.

Further Information: Small walnut chests such as this, are highly sought after. This chest has a particularly good patina and “skin” which is commensurate with a well used yet cared for life.

Condition: Excellent. Minor old restorations, waxing. Brassware and locks apparently original.
