Description: A fine George III burr maple writing table. The rectangular rosewood banded top with a central green leather writing surface, bordered by a pair of surfaces fitted with up-stands to help restrain writing implements, these open to reveal a mahogany lined compartment to one side and a pen compartment to the other. The frieze again banded in rosewood to all sides and one of the long sides fitted with a central drawer. The table is raised on end rosewood banded end supports, the vertical part joined and in filled with turned spindles, the support then curving neatly round to form a leg which is fitted with brass cap castors. The end supports are joined by a pair of turned maple cross stretchers. A piece of fabulous quality and excellent detailing throughout.
Condition: Excellent. Possible minor old restorations, waxing. The leather writing surface an old replacement.
