A large George III carved giltwood mirror

Description: A fine large George III carved giltwood mirror. The scrolling leaf and vine carved frame bordering a silvered mirror plate, with architectural elements of design, the pierced sides hung with intertwined flora, acanthus leaves and foliage with a central carved flower to each side of the plate. The mirror is surmounted by a pierced scroll cresting centred by an carved cartouche and floral spray, with a predominant carved ho-ho bird with outstretched wings standing on top.

The lower apron of similar pierced scroll work to the top, with a simpler central flower pendant finial to finish.

This mirror has excellent detailing and is crisply carved throughout, the gilt finish has nicely aged to present a superb centrepiece mirror for any room or hallway.

Condition: Excellent. The mirror plate possibly re-silvered, the gilding partially re-freshed.
