Description: A fine George II Irish Cuban mahogany tray top silver table of compact dimensions. The rectangular top with rounded corners and moulded lip to the edge, over a frieze with scroll cut apron and carved shell to the centre. The table is supported by elegant cabriole legs with shell and leaf carved knees and a paw foot. The table retains an excellent dark original colour and has good patina throughout. A lovely table of excellent rich colour, a very good example of Irish tables of this period.
Further Information: This table follows closely the from and design of similar pieces depicted in the book “Irish Furniture” by The Knight of Glynn and James Peill. Carved shell motifes are often found on Irish furniture of this period, the stepped ankle is unusual and rare.
Condition: Excellent. Minor restorations, waxing.
