George III carved mahogany piecrust tripod table

Description: A fine George III carved mahogany piecrust tripod table retaining excellent original colour and patina. The well figured top with a crisply carved and moulded “piecrust” edge, with a “snap top” tilting action. The top is supported by a tapering column, with ring turning to the tops, a turned gun barrel section the lower part if which has further ring turnings and gadrooning, the lower section of vase form, profusely carved with scrolling acanthus leaves, with a turned lower ring and and carved flower detailing. The table is supported on a tripod base, each thigh carved with trailing flowers and leaves, the leg then swoops down in a convex c-scroll shape a terminates in a carved ball and claw foot on brass castors.

A lovely table, apparently in fine original condition throughout.

Condition: Excellent. Possible minor old restorations, waxing.
