Description: A very good George IV late Regency period rosewood centre table. The rectangular well figured rosewood top with gadrooned edge and carved acanthus corners. Around the top is a down standing frieze with lower beaded edge. The table stands on carved tapering end supports, with scrolling hips, bead carved edges and a fabulous acanthus carved and gadrooned base, standing on a carved hoof foot on castors. The end supports are joined by a turned tapering cross stretcher with central carved floral motif.

Further Information: Gillows of Lancaster were probably the most celebrated of all English furniture makers. They were established in the early 18th century, and pieces made by Gillows are very desirable and extremely sought after. The gadrooning, carving and floral carved cross stretcher are hall marks of pieces made by this famous English firm.

Condition: Possible old minor restorations, waxing.
