A large George III carved giltwood mirror

Description: A fabulous large George III carved giltwood mirror. The scroll carved and shuttered frame bordering the silvered mirror plate, with architectural elements of design, the pierced sides hung with intertwined flora, acanthus leaves and foliage with a central carved flower to each side of the plate.

The mirror is surmounted by a pierced scroll cresting centred by an intricately carved cartouche and floral spray. The apron of similar pierced scroll work to the top, with a pendant rocaille finial to finish the scroll.

This mirror has excellent detailing and superb crisp carving throughout, the gilt finish has nicely aged to present a superb centrepiece mirror for any room or hallway.

Condition: Excellent. The mirror plate possibly re-silvered, the gilding partially re-freshed.
