Description: A fine English William & Mary burr & figured walnut cabinet on chest retaining excellent colour and patina throughout. The segmented moulded cornice, over a cushion moulded chart drawer. Below a pair of burr book matched veneered doors, with feather banding to the edge, opening to reveal an extensive arrangement of burr veneered and feather banded drawers, with a central cupboard opening to reveal further drawers, all fitted with original ring and rosette handles.
A prominent waist moulding separates the two parts of the piece with an arrangement of three long, highly figured feather banded, oak lined drawers, with ring and rosette handles and engraved lock escutcheons, supported by turned bun feet, unusually with a third central foot to the front. This cabinet on chest is over 300 years old and with the benefit of this great age exhibits a wonderful mellow colour and is in excellent condition throughout.
Condition: Excellent. Minor repairs to lose veneers and mouldings, cleaning and waxing. The bun feet are replacements.
