Description: A very good George I figured walnut, boxwood and ebony strung bureau of excellent colour & patina. The top and fall with sectioned veneers. Below a pair of retractable lopers bordering a long top drawer over a further three long graduated oak lined drawers with brass plate handles and escutcheons. The fall opens to reveal an arrangement of drawers and pigeon holes, with a central cupboard section with arched box and ebony stringing and a central holly inlaid crown to the top of the arch. The fall is fitted with a leather writing surface and the bureau is supported on bracket feet. A fine piece of furniture of particularly good colour and patina.
Condition: Excellent. Minor repairs to flake or chipped veneers, cleaning & waxing. The handles possibly old replacements. The leather writing surface has been replaced.
