Description: A fine George I burr walnut moon phase, longcase clock by George Beavis, London. The case of fine colour and excellent patina. The hood with broken arch door and pagoda above an arched fretwork sounding aperture with three ball finials.

The trunk with a chequer strung broken arch door, the base again with chequer strung central burr panel and double plinth base. The clock has a fine quality five pillar movement, superbly engraved arch, with a very rare single strike on half hour, strike silent selection, finely cast urn style spandrels.

The dial with top central engraved and painted moon phase, and arched makers cartouche above, inscribed 'George Beavis, London'. Below a silvered chapter ring and matted centre, subsidiary seconds and date aperture. George Beavis is listed in Baillies Clockmakers of the World as free of Clockmakers Company 1687 and making until 1725-1730. A fine and elegant clock of grand proportions.

Condition: Excellent.
