A large George III mahogany breakfront serving table

Stock Code: 2311 - SOLD

Description: A superb, elegant and large George III mahogany breakfront serving table, of excellent colour and patina. The solid mahogany, extremely well figured top with breakfront centre section and straight sides. The frieze of well figured flame mahogany crossed banded and strung with ebony, with applied moulding to the bottom edges. Above each square section, tapering fluted leg an oval shaped fan pattarae; each leg also with a moulded square section mahogany ankle cuff.

This is a particularly elegant table, constructed of fine quality solid and veneered mahogany throughout. It would truly grace and compliment any contemporary or traditionally themed room.

Further Information: This table whilst having the look of a Sheraton inspired design also crosses over into the stylistic camp of Robert Adam, with its square tapering fluted legs. This table has considerable and probably un-rivalled presence in any substantial, elegant room and was most likely commissioned for a very important estate.

Of particular note is the outstandingly figured solid mahogany top, which has survived the centuries with no splitting or warping, just marking time and gaining the wonderful patina and colour it has today.

Condition: Excellent. Minor old restorations, waxing.
