A fine English George III mahogany oval cellaret of neat compact proportions. The hinged lid with raised flat oval panel to the top and a concave ovolo shaped moulding above a vertical frieze, with a small brass lifting drop. The lid opens to reveal a mahogany constructed interior with a later removable galvanised liner. Each side of the main body is fitted with a swan neck lifting handle, with a keyhole escutcheoned lock fitted to the upper central part. The cellaret is permanently fixed to its oval stand and is supported on square section moulded legs with delicately carved and shaped C-scrolls either side of the upper leg. A particularly fine looking piece with excellent rich colour and a good patina throughout.
