A fine George III mahogany window seat in the manner of Thomas Chippendale. With channel moulded arms which gently curve and then terminate in a tight scroll to form cushion bolster arms. The frieze serpentine fronted and bowed. The seat and arms covered in close nailed buttoned green watered silk fabric. Standing on channel and moulded cabriole legs with characteristic Chippendale raised scroll feet. A wonderful piece full of elegant swooping curves, to delightfully grace any drawing room.
The channelled moulded, elegant cabriole leg, with the tightly scrolled foot, conforms closely to illustrations in Thomas Chippendale’s “The Gentleman’s and Cabinet Maker's Director” |
