A very good George III mahogany & cross banded chest of drawers of compact dimensions, retaining excellent original colour & patina throughout. The top cross banded to the front and sides in a contrasting mahogany veneer, with moulded applied edge. Below four well figured, graduated, cock-beaded, oak lined drawers, with gilt brass swan neck handles and circular back plates. The chest is supported on shaped bracket feet. The main body of the chest measures only 36” wide (37” including top edge moulding) so this piece easily lends itself to fitting and looking correctly proportioned in a tight location.
Provenance ► A private residence in Cambridgeshire.
