A fine rare William & Mary carved walnut and cane-work day bed. The backrest section with turned side supports and a shaped and caned rectangular centre panel with scrolling carved leaf and vine crest. The rectangular bed section with central caned panel supported by four spindle turned legs each side with a delicately curled Braganza foot, each linked by a carved vine and leaf crested stretcher. The bed has a long loose cushion with later 18th century needlework cover. A very unusual piece in fine condition with an excellent original colour.

This piece was kept for many years in the ”not for sale” exhibition stock of well renowned Broadway H. W. Kiel, it was exhibited at the antique dealers fare at Grosvenor House in 1964 and subsequently bought by a private collector in Cheshire.
