Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Not quite an accurate image of the MD
- but the figure is similar -
Merry Christmas!
With the end of 2009 approaching much faster than most of us would like to imagine, may we take this opportunity in our last newsletter of the year, to wish all our customers and friends a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for your custom and support throughout the year.

So what do we think 2010 has in store for the world of art and antiques? With horror stories a plenty about the state of Britain's finances, the intended stealing by Brown and Darling of as much money as they can from anyone who is earning 20p an hour more than the minimum wage, may put the shivers up many. Will this wholesale robbery change anything? I don't think so. There will always be a demand for the best in art and antiques and Millington Adams hope to bring you the best at the most affordable level we can.

For the UK, I think that a sensible approach in encouraging entrepreneurial enterprises to create wealth and employment, so increasing tax revenues naturally, aligned to the elimination of the horrendous waste and unnecessary expense in the public sector may be the answer. However I digress....

If you fancy a last minute Christmas present then just get in touch - Merry Christmas!

Off to the London International Fine Art Fair (...at Olympia)
With a plethora of fairs now planned in London for June 2010, we have to ask ourselves is this going to get a little confusing for collectors and art lovers? Answer = Yes! Masterpiece the top of the market everything fair, a supposed replacement for Grosvenor House with an extension to include yachts, watches cars and w.h.y., as reported in our last news letter, is still awaiting planning permission but now appears to be at least off the ground. Art Antiques London organised by Brian and Anna Haughton, scheduled to run concurrently with Olympia, this time in a tent in Hyde Park opposite the Royal Albert Hall. This is effectively an established event absorbing the International Ceramics Fair and Seminar previously staged in The Park Lane Hotel, Piccadilly, and already has some large names already signed up.

Despite the confusing variety of events occurring at the same time, it may be a bonus for all concerned. The message emanating to the world is that in June, London is the place to go for the more luxurious things in life. For our money though, it does seem that Mr Lester may have stolen a slight advantage. By making Olympia step up a rung in quality and presentation, and by giving the fair a much needed boost in marketing, visibility and stature he might just win the extra numbers and calibre of visitors required to make the event a success.
The London International Fine art fair (at Olympia) looks the front runner for many exhibitors on next June's busy London Fair scene.

Event timetable for 2010

Our current planned event list is very similar to 2009. We may change things around a bit later so watch this space!
Our events timetable for 2010 is looking remarkably similar to 2009, with 6 fairs likely to be on the cards in the coming year. With a peak of ten fairs a year two of years ago, that rate of exhibiting was becoming rather a lot, so six it has been since 2007.

The fairs we envisage attending in 2010 are probably the best in the UK at the present, with only one little question mark hanging over June, where it seems Mr Lester's new Olympia appears to be in pole position compared to the newly announced, yet untried and tested, upmarket events in the same month. Although we have an application in to exhibit at Masterpiece, apart from the top rung dealers their plans seem less well established for us mere mortals! So, as I have written earlier in this newsletter, Olympia will probably be the place for us, and we hope it will be happening there. Any savvy visitor, especially from abroad, will make sure that they attend all events in any case. See you somewhere in 2010!

The Millington Adams Autumn Catalogue
Our first catalogue has been out for a couple of months now. we hope you like it. In the spring we will producing our next one with some exciting new artworks. The current edition, produced entirely in-house, has 60 pages of our current stock of fine period furniture, clocks and fine paintings. Our site millingtonadams.com will of course have our full inventory.

To save many trees and obviously the high printing costs "Autumn 2009" will only be available on the internet, yet in a traditional catalogue format where you can just leaf through the pages at will and if so desired link directly from the catalogue to our an website to check availability and pricing. We think that it is a great addition to our portfolio for customers who would rather browse traditionally instead of looking through a website.

Just click on the adjacent image to view our Autumn 2009 catalogue,  we hope you like it and would welcome any suggestions you may have to Sles@millingtonadams.com

Website videos well received
Showing the video's shot at LAPADA's Berkeley Square event has been largely well received, but it is now time to use the facility for a slightly more interesting use. In future we will be uploading descriptive videos on interesting or unusual artworks, which may be a help to those of you who would like to see and hear a little more in detail about them.

We will be working on these new videos n the next few weeks and will be adding them soon. They will be published initially on the home page and eventually will be moved to a page where they can be accessed by clicking on a thumbnail, watch this space for more news.

The BADA Fine Art & Antique Fair -17th to 23rd March 2010
With 2009 drawing to a close we are now finished our exhibitions on the UK fair circuit. With the last event of the year at Olympia in London not setting the world on fire, we can look forward to the rebranded and American run London International Fine Art Fair at Olympia (LIFAF) in June 2010, with the promise of Maastricht like presentation, quality and stature. We shall have to see how it all turns out. In the meantime though, there is one fair which many still regard as the best in the UK, the BADA Fair.
The central aisle at the 2009 BADA Fair at Duke of York Square, London.
Next years event runs
from the 17th to 23rd March 2010.
This is held from the 17th to the 23rd March 2010 in the Duke of York Square, just off Sloan Square in London. With the demise of Grosvenor House, until we see how Mr Lester's summer Olympia performs, the BADA fair is the top UK Fine Art and Antiques Fair. See you there!
