To our website. Millington Adams endeavour to bring you the finest pieces of British period antique furniture. Inspired by people like Thomas Chippendale, Sheraton, Hepplewhite, and made by cabinet makers such as Gillows of Lancaster, Mayhew & Ince, Old & Ody, John Coxed, together with a large selection of Georgian longcase and bracket clocks, objéts d'art, and paintings from the 19th and 20th century.

We acquire stock that is in as original condition as we can find, we perform restoration or conservation work where necessary, sympathetic with the age and style of the piece, ensuring that the original patina and look of the furniture, painting or clock is preserved as much as possible. We believe that an antique should show to a certain extent it's age, we do not "over restore" pieces which perhaps could lead to confusion with a modern reproduction.

We are elected members of the British Antique Dealers Association, the premier trade association for the UK's top dealers. Our stock is selected and offered with quality and originality in mind,  from the best artists, cabinet makers, clockmakers and sculptors of the time; always attractively priced.

Shown here in the adjacent gallery slide shows are some of our recent acquisitions, click any image to view that particular piece, browse our site at your leisure, using the links on the top to lead to a index gallery for each type of work that we have presently available. Our stock changes daily, if we do not have available a suitable piece currently, then we will be happy to inform you if we do find something at a later date.

The Summer Olympia Fair reverts back to British Control
Millington Adams stand at the 2009 Olympia Fine Art & Antique Fair, we guess things will be looking something like this again in 2011.
After our recent news item on this page about the woe's of this summer's London International Fine Art Fair, we can now report that the UK organiser Clarion Events will resume it's position next year as organiser and owner of the summer Olympia Fine Art & Antiques Fair. The complete rethink is reflected in the fair, which will run from June 9 to 19, reverting to a more traditional name, the Olympia International Fine Art & Antiques Fair, after the 2010 rebrand as the London International Fine Art Fair.

For some years June Olympia had struggled for an identity, so in late 2009 a frustrated Clarion turned to the flamboyant Florida organiser David Lester to rejuvenate and galvanise the London fair with his own particular brand of showmanship
Early on there were signs that the Lester style was at odds with the English trade and Olympia traditions, and there was widespread scepticism of his attempt to make this broadly-based showcase of the British trade an international, upmarket extravaganza. Lester found it difficult to sell stands and ended up with 165, far short of his initial target. Everyone agreed the fair looked very good, but the combination of massively hiked stand rents, a levy which did not result in productive marketing, and the last-minute distribution of cut-price stands to Palm Beach regulars, incensed dealers who had paid in full, some of them forced into three-year contracts.

Many exhibitors lost money this summer (luckily not us) and are smarting because of it, the general consensus amongst these dealers is that they do not want to exhibit under a fair organised by Mr Lester. Clarion's decision to now bring the fair again firmly under British management will be good news to many UK regulars, who despite being impressed with the look of the fair, were not impressed with the footfall and under the counter wheeling and dealing that was going on just before opening. We will have to see what happens next year.
